Final EDLD 5306 Web conference reflection
0This week in our Web Conference we discussed the Internship and Field-Based Experiences and Activities that would be on-going throughout the M. Ed Education Technology Leadership program. Several of my classmates had reservation that the assignment was so open ended. The fact that the assignment was open ended was actually my favorite part about the assignment. This way I am able to fit the internship into my current setting rather than have a lot of hoops and hurdles. I have participated in Internships where there were precise activities and procedures. Most of those internships made me feel like a robot.
I was glad to know that many of the feelings I had, several of my classmates shared. The web conference was a great therapy session and made me feel confident that I would be able to complete the required assignments. I learned that the Wiki should always be the point of reference for new documents pertaining to the Internship. This course has been a wonderful experience and the web conferences have been a great way to communicate virtually.
Interactive Chatroom Experience – Week 2 Reflection
0Over the past two weeks I have been reminded at how important classroom interaction is for student success. In order to achieve classroom interaction in an online setting, I am able to participate in a weekly Interactive Audio/Video Web Conference with fellow classmates and my instructor, Dr. Abshire. One of the greatest features of this type of interaction is the conference recording. After the conference has ended, a web link will be available for every student to access if desired. This allows us to revisit the text and voice chat discussion and a print out of our chat log. I find that Web Conference recording and chat room printouts are advantages I have over students who attend face to face classes.
The content of Week Two’s Web Conference included an overview of the M. Ed Educational Technology Leadership program at Lamar University. I learned that the Site Internship would be 100 intern hours with a capstone course taken at the end of the program. I also was reminded to start planning ahead because the Internship Plan will be due at the end of Week 5.
We all discovered that an online course requires a rigorous pace and time management skills. Many of my peers had some of the same questions as me. This gave me some assurance knowing that I was not alone. Through the advice of our Instructor, my classmates and I created a Facebook page where we could collaborate during the week.
Although the remaining Web Conferences are optional attendance, I find them to be a valuable asset to the class. One thing that Dr. Abshire mentioned during this past Web Conference was that I should use the voice option instead of the text chat option. I will need to work on jumping into the discussion via voice chat. Slowly I will feel comfortable discussing with audio and video. I am looking forward to next week.
First Interactive Chat Room Experience
1While in our EDLD 5306 Concepts of Educational Technology – Cohort 17 weekly chat room, my classmates and I learned how to navigate the Adobe® Acrobat® Connect™ Pro Meeting web conference software. We each introduced ourselves either via text, voice, or voice and camera.
This interactive chat helped me connect with my fellow classmates. I also had the ability to ask my instructor, Dr. Abshire, questions. My classmates were spread out across the State of Texas and we even had an out-of-state class member attend the web chat. We all learned from each other and the experience resulted in me feeling less isolated and more part of a community with a common goal – to learn more about technology.
